Chairing a high-level meeting with Export Promotion Councils and industry associations in New Delhi, the minister highlighted that India’s total merchandise and services exports reached a record level of over 860 billion dollars in the financial year 2025–26. He emphasised that this milestone reflects the resilience of the country’s export sector despite prevailing global disruptions.
Mr Goyal noted that key sectors, including engineering goods, electronics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, gems and jewellery, and agri-based products, have maintained steady export momentum. He stressed that sustained performance across these sectors demonstrates the growing competitiveness and diversification of India’s export base.
Underscoring the long-term vision, the minister stated that the current achievement should serve as a foundation for reaching the ambitious target of two trillion dollars in exports by 2030. He reiterated that this objective aligns with the broader national goal of transforming India into a developed economy.
Mr Goyal also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening a facilitative trade ecosystem through continuous reforms, targeted support measures, and close coordination with industry stakeholders. He stressed that collaborative efforts between the government and the private sector will be crucial in accelerating export growth and enhancing India’s global trade footprint.
The minister’s remarks signal a strategic push to maximise the benefits of trade agreements while reinforcing India’s position as a key player in the global economy.
